The past two weeks in class we have learned about how to edit photos and take it in HDR mode, we learned about the harmful effects of copyright, as well as technology that helps improve health, and we also created a website and a blog! We took a picture in HDR mode outside on the campus the first day and learned how to edit it in Snapseed. We then uploaded it and made a blog about it. In class we saw that many music artists copy the same beats as other artists either indirectly or directly. Then we touched base on how technology has impacted healthcare either for the better or for the worse. I have read some articles and watched some videos during these two weeks and will briefly review one article and one video.
Article: “Checking you vitals” Wearable technology is changing the way we monitor health”
This article narrowed in on how technology is becoming so advanced it has contributed to health care and more people are tracking their own health. Smart phones like iPhones can do this but there is now wearable technology like an apple watch or fit-bit. This technology can track a persons diet and keep track of vitals as well. This is making people become more invested in their health and want to learn more about their body
“I think there’s an enormous opportunity for technology to improve health and affect the health industry in the next few years,”
Stated in this article some argue that this technology can intrude on peoples relationships with their doctors, such as sending their doctors information about them such as are they exercising or eating healthy and so on. For example Apple created an app that alerts and notifies a persons doctor whens something is not right. People believe that this steps over the line and is some what creepy
On the other hand, people believe that it is smart to be able to share information to a persons doctor. They believe this because they can learn how to utilize the technology and live a better life.
This article ends saying that it use to just be google where people would get help relating to their health, but now it has shifted to advanced technology such as wearable technology. With that being said, people are becoming more aware of their health and more motivated to choose a healthier lifestyle.
Adam Ruins Everything – Why Facebook isn’t free
This video really opens the eyes of what facebook actually is and how it really works. It shows people in a laboratory setting laying down on a chair with a computer attached to their head showing their facebook. It shows people who work for facebook controlling the advertisements that they see.
This video explains that most people think facebook is free but in reality it really is not. It states that you pay facebook with your identity. Facebook pays attention and tracks everything about you and then they make a profile of who you really are. Facebook can even determine your sexual orientation. With all this information they have about you they then sell it to advertisers and advertisements will then start popping up on your facebook. These advertisements are usually things you like or want or things you have recently googled.
For example, in this video, a girl that is laying down in the so called laboratory and got an advertisement for a gay cruise. She never told anyone she is gay, but facebook figured it out and decided to sell it to advertisers to post advertisements on her facebook.
This video opened my eyes and scared me a little as well because Facebook has complete control over us and knows so much about everyone.
