This article goes into depth explaining that motivation doesn’t come from outside, it doesn’t come from someone telling you to do something. Motivation is within yourself, it is you who to motivates yourself. Initially it is about what you really want, and if you want it that bad then you will do something about it. You will be motivated to do something. This article described six different methods of motivation and they are listed below.
Make Yourself a deal
- Most things you need to do daily or weekly is something you might not want to do
- Make yourself a deal and tell yourself that if you complete one thing then you will get a reward and this will motivate you more to complete other tasks
Fake it until you make it
- As stated in the first method, you aren’t going to want to complete tasks you have everyday so in a sense you should fake it until you make it
- Put on a smile and and pretend to enjoy and get it done
- You will be happy with yourself once you complete it
Have a positive morning
- Wake up ready to go and make your day great right at the start
- Prepare ahead of time, make a lunch the night before, have a great breakfast for energy, listen to upbeat music or podcasts
Set big goals
- Forget about those small goals! Set Big goals!
- Setting big goals and writing them down makes your more motivated to work for them more
- Put the writing of your goal where you will see it everyday or even a picture to remind you everyday why you are working hard and motivated to complete it
Start with the hardest task
- Most people will have many tasks throughout the day or even the week
- Make sure to start with the hardest task to get it out of the way and over with. Starting with the hardest task and finishing it, will make you more motivated to complete following tasks
Don’t fear failure
- Most people look at failure very negatively
- Make sure you don’t do this, learn from your failure and try not to make the same mistakes next time
- Failure can be positive!
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily”

Amy Purdy
I choose Amy Purdy as my motivational speaker because she went through a major setback in life but that did not keep her from accomplishing major things.
When Amy was younger she always wanted to live where is snowed. When she graduated high school she moved to a place where it snowed so she could snowboard. She also became a massage therapist
One night she felt sick almost like the flu and she was suddenly put in the hospital and was on life support. They told her she had a 2% chance of living.
She was later diagnosed with what is called bacterial meningitis. She lost her spleen, kidneys, hearing in her left ear as well as both of her legs below her left knee.
At first she was discouraged and though that her prosthetic legs were awful and thought to herself how will I ever travel the world again. She started to look at the positive side of things. She thought to herself, she can make herself any height she wants to be, and she can buy any pari of shoes in the sale section
She deiced to not let this ruin her life. She started to snowboard again, she went back to school , and went back to work. She even cofounded a nonprofit organization for youth and young adults with physical disabilities. She also received two back to back gold world cup medals in snowboarding.
The audio quality of this speech was very good and I could hear Amy talking very clearly and loudly! The intended audience of her video is for everyone, I believe that anyone can take away from this. She is living proof that there is no excuse to give up, and to fight through your setbacks in life. In terms of pattern of speech in this Ted Talk, Amy began with talking about her life as a kid and guided us through her life and how her sickness gave he setbacks and she continued to talk about how she overachieved them and what she is doing today.
In my motivation video I plan to use parts of Amys Ted Talk as well as photos and videos that resemble motivation.
